Collie Price Cost

How much does an AKC Rough Collie cost?

I recently searched for this question on Google and came back with an inaccurate amount that dogtemperament.com posted by a Kailyn C. She uneducatedly misleads her readers by stating the price of a Collie is $600 and under. I am not sure where one could find a Collie at this price, other than a backyard breeder who wanted to simply breed Fifi to get a litter of puppies out of her. You can also bet that Fifi and her mate were never health-tested, nor were the puppies at that price! If you’re looking for a Collie based on price alone, then be prepared to foot additional vet bills in the future since the breeder is probably selling the puppy “as-is”.

If you are truly serious about adding a HEALTHY Collie puppy to your family, you need to do some research. You also need to realize that the actual cost of an AKC registered puppy from health-tested parents will cost you around $2,500. If you can’t afford a dog at that price, then you need to reconsider whether you would be able to afford emergency vet care should any accidents happen to your Collie puppy. This may seem harsh, but it’s the truth.

How much is would a rescue Collie cost?

It’s rare that we see Rough Collies at a rescue shelter. If you’re searching for a rescue Collie, be sure that it’s 100% a Collie. Many shelters will tell you you’re getting a Collie, when in fact, the dog is either a mixed breed or may not have any Collie genetics at all! This is another matter where you should also research the shelter you’re dealing with. Not all shelters are the same. Some are in the business of profit. As for how much a rescue Collie costs, we can’t tell you. Again, it’s a rarity that Collies are found in a Shelter.
